Purchase of a boarding pass

Boarding pass from/to Bratislava Airport can be purchased here.

Can I buy a boarding pass also directly at the airport?

Yes, boarding passes of some airline companies (Ryanair, Wizz Air) can be purchased personally at the airport desk called „Airport Tickets & Fees Centre“, which can be found in the departure hall of the airport. Purchase is open 2 hours before each departure.

Online check-in

What is an online check-in? How to do online check-in?
Online check-in allows passengers to register for their flight via the airline’s website or mobile app. During the process, you will be asked to enter personal and travel document details. During registration you can order assistance at the airport for immobile passengers, purchase additional baggage, insurance, transport, or other additional services.

Is online check-in mandatory?

Some airline companies (Ryanair, Wizz Air) require passengers to check in in advance. Failure to do so may result in additional airport check-in fees according to the airline's price list. To check-in online, visit the airline's website or download their mobile app. If you already have your boarding pass (printed or digital) and are travelling with hand baggage only, you may proceed directly to security control on the 2nd floor of the Departures terminal without having to stop by the check-in desks.

If online check-in is not made available by the airline, you must check in at the airport counters.

How do I get my boarding pass?
After completing online check-in, your boarding pass will be issued. You can print it out or use a digital version in the airline's mobile application, if supported by the airline company's policy.

I am not an EU citizen. Where is my visa checked?
If you are not a citizen of the European Union, please proceed to the check-in desk assigned to your flight for visa verification. Bring your boarding pass from online check-in.

When to arrive at the airport

When should I arrive at the airport?

We generally recommend arriving at the airport 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. Check-in and security screening open at that time, so please allow enough time. Check-in usually closes 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

For flights outside the Schengen Area, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure, as passengers must also go through passport control.

Baggage and food

What baggage can I take on the flight?
Weight, number and size of both hand luggage and checked baggage depend on the airline's Conditions of Carriage. These can be found on the airline's website, usually in the Terms & Conditions section.

What can I carry in my hand luggage?
In general, sharp objects, weapons, or large quantities of liquids are not permitted. Detailed rules can be found here.

Can I carry food in my hand baggage?
Yes. You can carry food (e.g. sandwiches, bread, biscuits, chips, instant soups) in your hand baggage as well as liquids up to 100 ml (or 100 grams). The total volume of liquids must not exceed 1 litre and must be placed in a resealable plastic bag (zipper bag).

Can I carry bryndza (sheep cheese), ketchup, codfish spread, mustard, chocolate spread, cheese spreads, cottage cheese, or pâté in my hand baggage?
These items can be carried only in containers of up to 100 ml / 100 g. They must be placed in a resealable plastic bag (zipper bag) together with other liquid items. The total volume must not exceed 1 litre. If you need to transport larger quantities, place them in your checked baggage.

Can plastic bags for liquids be purchased at the airport?
Yes. Resealable plastic bags are available for purchase at the airport right before the security check area. The price is 1 Euro per pack.

Can I travel with an animal?
Animal transport is arranged directly with the airline (e.g. Pobeda, Travel Service/Smartwings). Detailed information can be found here. Guide dogs are accepted on board free of charge.

Are there limits on hand baggage size and quantity?
Yes. Hand baggage size and quantity are determined individually by each air carrier in their Conditions of Carriage, usually listed on their website. Baggage sizers for specific airline companies are available at the check-in desks and boarding gates. If your baggage exceeds the allowed size, weight, or number, it must be checked in for an additional fee according to the currently valid price list of the airline. Otherwise, such baggage may be refused for air transport due to the passenger's non-compliance with the carrier's Conditions of Carriage.
