General information
How to prepare for the security screening?
Security screening is carried out in a manner that ensures the safety of passengers at the airport and during the flight.
- Security screening usually opens approximately 2 hours before the scheduled departure, typically after the check-in counters open (on the ground floor of the Departures hall). Please make sure to arrive at the security check in good time.
Liquids
Prepare all liquids in advance to avoid delays or stressful situations.
Liquids include: all types of liquids, aerosols, and gels such as water, drinks, creams, sprays, toothpaste, hair gels, shaving gels and foams, soups, syrups, perfumes, and other items of similar consistency.
This also includes certain types of food such as jam, honey, chocolate spread, pâté, bryndza, processed cheese, baby food, etc.
Maximum quantity per passenger: Liquids, aerosols and gels must be carried in separate containers with a maximum volume of 100 milliliters each. These must be placed in a single transparent, resealable plastic bag with a maximum volume of 1 liter. The bag must close properly, and all items must fit inside it comfortably.
WARNING! Important is the size of the container is decisive, not the amount of liquid inside.
Exceptions include medicines, liquids required for medical reasons or special dietary needs, including baby food (baby porridges, soups, etc.) in quantities necessary for the duration of the journey. Passengers must inform security staff in advance when carrying such items.
Liquids, aerosols and gels in individual containers of up to100 milliliters do not need to be removed from hand baggage.
Passengers are obliged to remove liquids, aerosols and gels from their hand baggage and put them into a crate for inspection if they:
- exceed 100 ml on volume;
- are carried in a demonstrably intact, sealed security bag (STEB) with visible proof of purchase inside the bag;
- are required for medical or dietary purposes, including baby food, and intended for use during the trip, in quantities exceeding 100 ml;
Security staff may ask the passenger to remove the liquid, aerosol, or gel for additional screening.
All other liquids must be placed in checked baggage.
Electronics
Larger electronic devices (laptops, e-readers, tablets, power banks, cameras, etc.) do not need to be removed from hand luggage.
Strollers
Strollers are usually checked in at the oversized baggage desk on the ground floor of Terminal A.
- Before handing over a stroller, it is necessary to properly mark it with a baggage tag at your airline's check-in desk.
If it has not been tagged during check-in, it may be labelled at the boarding gate.
- If agreed with check-in staff, passengers may keep the stroller until boarding and hand it over at the aircraft.
If the stroller passes through security screening, it must be folded before the X-ray check. If the stroller does not fit into the X-ray machine, it will be screened separately. It is then handed over to the airport staff at the aircraft stairs.
Personal belongings
Before screening, place your travel documents and small personal items in a handbag, backpack, or pockets, so that they are not damaged or lost during the X-ray check.
- Place your hand baggage in the crate on the conveyor belt.
- Take off the upper layers of clothing such as a coat, jacket, etc.
- Remove all items from pockets, including keys, coins, wallets, mobile phones, and non-metallic objects.
- Remove belts, watches, headwear, and sunglasses. Prescription glasses and small jewelry (chains, rings, necklaces) may remain.
- Shoes covering ankles, shoes with thick soles, heels or visible metal elements (zippers, buckles, decorations, lace fasteners, etc.) must be removed and placed in a crate.
Passengers are obliged to follow all instructions given by security personnel.
Personal screening
All passengers must pass through a metal detector when instructed by security staff. Exceptions apply to pregnant women and people with pacemakers, who should inform security staff in advance.
- Collect all your belongings after screening and make sure nothing is left behind.
- Follow any additional instructions given by security personnel.
- Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998.
