Passenger Numbers at Bratislava Airport Increased by 14 Percent in Q1
11. 04. 2025 – BTS handled a total of 273,807 passengers on arrivals and departures from January to the end of March. In the first quarter, the airport recorded a 14% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year, when 239,761 people were handled.
"The most passengers departing from Bratislava Airport in the first quarter were flying to London, Manchester, Rome, Malta, or Thessaloniki," summarized Dušan Novota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of M. R. Štefánik Airport. "The increase in the number of handled passengers in the first quarter was supported by a higher frequency of flights on regular routes, as well as by flights to exotic destinations and new regular routes, such as the one to Istanbul," the CEO added.
At the same time, a total of 4,856 takeoffs and landings were recorded at Bratislava Airport – the same number as in the first quarter of last year.
The airport also recorded growth in operational results in March, when it handled 103,094 passengers. "For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, we exceeded the 100,000-passenger mark in the third month of the year. Compared to last March, we saw a 13 percent increase in passenger numbers," explained Dušan Novota. "This growth was also supported by irregular charter traffic, including the launch of holiday flights to Egypt," the CEO concluded.
In March, a total of 1,777 flights – both arrivals and departures – were operated at M. R. Štefánik Airport.
