Bratislava Airport Celebrates 10 Years of Ryanair's Base with Five New Routes
30. 03. 2025 – Bratislava Airport is proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ryanair’s base, which was established in late March 2015. Ryanair has been a key partner of Bratislava Airport for nearly 20 years, having launched its first flights from the Slovak capital on 10 October 2005.
To mark this milestone, Ryanair is expanding its operations at Bratislava Airport by adding five new routes as part of its summer 2025 schedule, which begins today, 30 March 2025. The new destinations include Bari, Milan-Malpensa, Gdansk, Zadar, and Skiathos. With these additions, Ryanair will now operate a total of 24 regular routes from Bratislava, further strengthening the connectivity of Slovakia’s main international airport.
Since Ryanair commenced operations in Bratislava in 2005, the airline has transported over 16 million passengers on arrivals and departures. The first four routes operated by Ryanair from Bratislava were London-Stansted, Dublin, Milan-Bergamo, and Frankfurt. The first three of these routes—London-Stansted, Dublin, and Milan—are still in operation today, continuing to provide vital connections for passengers. This year, as Bratislava Airport and Ryanair prepare to celebrate 20 years of cooperation in October, a significant change is taking place: after nearly two decades, the Milan-Bergamo route is being replaced by a direct connection to Milan-Malpensa, the city’s main airport.
This anniversary also coincides with another important milestone for Ryanair, as the airline celebrates its 40th anniversary since launching its first flights in Europe on 8 July 1985.
Ryanair opened its base at Bratislava Airport in 2015 with two based aircraft, marking an important step in the growth of the airport’s operations. Looking ahead, the airline is further expanding its presence in Bratislava by adding a third based aircraft from the start of the winter 2025 schedule in late October.
Ryanair operates its flights from Bratislava using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a capacity of 189 passengers, and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which accommodate 197 passengers.
Bratislava Airport’s Commitment to Connectivity and Growth
As Bratislava Airport celebrates this important milestone, it remains committed to strengthening its role as Slovakia’s leading international gateway. The expansion of Ryanair’s base and the addition of new routes will provide passengers with even more travel opportunities, reinforcing Bratislava’s position as a key aviation hub in Central Europe.
