What not to miss in Paphos
Paphos is a paradise for history lovers. Its origins date back to the 12th century AD n. l. The city was among the richest cities on the island, as evidenced by the remains in the archaeological site. The best-preserved monuments of the site are the colourful mosaics of Dionysus's dome, the fortress, or the old amphitheatre - Odeion.
Another attraction for tourists is the tombs of the kings listed in the UNESCO list. However, they are not real tombs of kings, they were named so because of their magnificent appearance. Eight tombs have been uncovered and are accessible.
If you would like to see the surrounding area, be sure not to miss the famous Aphrodite's rock. Legend has it that Aphrodite rose from the sea in this place.
The city of Paphos, like the whole of Cyprus, offers a very pleasant combination of a holiday by the Mediterranean Sea with the discovery of history and traditional life on the island in the surrounding villages.
