The Spanish Island in the Mediterranean Sea has long been a popular destination for vacationers, and interest has grown even more recently. Several low-cost companies from Central Europe have started flying there, and they are offering low ticket prices. But it is popular mainly due to its beautiful beaches, amenities, and the possibility to visit nature inland. You can relax there, discover the history of the island, but also go on hikes and observe the natural beauty.
Flights from Bratislava
The popular Spanish island of Palma de Mallorca can be reached directly from Bratislava thanks to regular Ryanair flights. The island is very popular among vacationers, and you will arrive at one of the busiest airports in Europe - Palma de Mallorca Airport. The flight takes two and a half hours and flies regularly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Transportation from the airport to the city
Transportation to the city and to the nearby port is provided by bus line number 1. This line operates regularly at intervals of 15 minutes from 5:30 in the morning until 01:00 at night. The airport is 10 kilometres from the centre and the journey takes about 25 minutes. Buses to other places on the island are also available.
Of course, you can also use the taxi services available at the airport or if you are planning trips around the island, you can rent a car directly at the airport.
What not to miss in Majorca
The island is relatively small, but that does not detract from its attractiveness at all, rather the opposite. You can find quite a lot in such a small area. You can enjoy the island in different ways. It offers culture, history, relaxation, tourism, but also nightlife.
An important architectural gem in the city is the Gothic Bellver Castle, which dates to the 14th century. It is atypical in that its floor plan is in the shape of a circle. Among the important and frequently visited cathedrals is the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary, which attracts mainly with its size. The Gothic building is 121 meters long and 55 meters wide, and two 67-meter-high towers rise in the air.
If you like nature and hiking, visit the Serra de Tramuntana Mountain range, which is on the UNESCO list. Here you will find the highest peak Puig Major (1445 meters), trails and terraced fields built by mountain communities. In addition to this, beautiful views of the surroundings are added.
But of course, Mallorca is also about nightlife, relaxation, and gastronomy. Taste traditional Spanish dishes, wash them down with sangria, and later you can visit one of the bars and enjoy Mallorca at night.
