Ohrid

Ohrid is one of the most beautiful towns in North Macedonia, located on the shore of Lake Ohrid and surrounded by mountains. The town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a unique combination of history, nature, spiritual atmosphere and a peaceful holiday setting. Flights from Bratislava

The direct air connection between Bratislava and Ohrid operates several times a week during the summer flight schedule, and up to 4 times a week in the main summer season. The flight from Bratislava to Ohrid takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Transport from the airport

  • Taxi / private transport – Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport is located approximately 9 km from the centre of Ohrid. The most convenient transport option is a taxi or private transfer. The journey to the centre takes approximately 15 minutes.
  • Transfer / shuttle – for some flights and holiday stays, organised shuttle services or transfers according to the flight schedule may be available. It is advisable to check this option in advance when booking accommodation or transport.
  • Car rental – you can rent a car directly at the airport. This is a practical option if you plan to explore the area around Lake Ohrid, the Monastery of Saint Naum, Galičica National Park or other places in North Macedonia.

What not to miss in Ohrid

When visiting Ohrid, you should definitely not miss these places and experiences:

  • Lake Ohrid – one of the oldest and cleanest lakes in Europe, ideal for swimming, boating, walks and relaxing by the water.
  • Church of St. John at Kaneo – an iconic building on a cliff above the lake and one of the most famous symbols of Ohrid.

  • Plaošnik – an archaeological site and spiritual place connected with Saint Clement of Ohrid.
  • Monastery of Saint Naum – a beautiful monastery complex near the springs of the Black Drim River, approximately 30 km from Ohrid.
  • Galičica National Park – a natural area between Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa, suitable for hiking, viewpoints and car trips.
  • Macedonian gastronomy – taste tavče gravče, ajvar, grilled meat, fresh lake fish, local cheeses, wines and traditional Balkan coffee.
