22. 03. 2012 - Red Bull Paper Wings 2012 Slovak Championship has found its final destination at Bratislava Airport on March 22nd. New airport departure terminal will change to a place where about the best pilot within students in Slovakia is going to be decided. Tomas Kika, chief commercial officer of Bratislava Airport, will participate in the competition as a member of the jury.
On Thursday March 22nd, 21 university students will challenge each other in public area of the new Bratislava Airport departure terminal At 9 p.m. it is going to be decided which most successful “paper pilot” will represent Slovakia in an attempt to reach the victory on the Red Bull Paper Wings finals. World Championship is going to be held in Hangar-7 of the Salzburg Airport and it will host representatives from 85 countries.
There are three categories for the finals:
- longest airtime
- longest distance
- aerobatics
Competition rules are strict: In first two disciplines paper planes must only be constructed out of one piece of paper: standard A4 format. Considering the third discipline – acrobatics - there are no restrictions with regards to paper quality, size, and construction technique and support material of the used planes.
